The Primordial Giants

Eons ago the first giants stepped foot on the face of Pell.  They paid homage to this force that gave birth to them, worshiping it as both their creator and god.  Strong as the earth itself, fierce as the fires that burn within it, as unyielding as the waters upon its surface, and everchanging as the winds that storm through the lands, they were sculpted from the Primordial force of the world, into creatures massive of stature and strong of spirit.

They refer to this spirit as the Primordial, an entity and force of nature which shaped the entire world of Pell in which all creatures dwell.  While most adhere to one or two aspects of it specifically, all see value and seek balance with the elements that comprised their creation.  The first priest of the Primordial, Lamec, spoke the first words in worship to their progenitor, "Embody its form, seek balance within and enact that balance on the world for the health and glory of the Primordial."

Nearly all giants exclusively adhere to their origin mythos, seeing every calling taken up by their brethren as an expression of the Primordial.  Shamanistic wizard priests calling upon the fury of their creator, warrior sentinels embodying the fiery wrath and indestructible bedrock of the earth, and ancient ranger wardens of the forest, all are expressions of their creator in all its varied and multifaceted forms.

They extend this view to the other races of Pell as well, seeing each as an aspect of their progenitor, albeit incomplete and lacking the same connection and balance among the elements that breathed life into all creatures.  Due to their fragmented natures, giants view the other races as an upset to the balance that should be instilled in the world, requiring sometimes a firm hand and guidance to restore the equilibrium that is their calling.

Most giants will tell you that the Primordial isn't a god in the traditional sense, viewed as part world spirit, part fount of elemental creation.  While sometimes inscrutable it is no less demanding in its servants.  Some simply believe that its demands are willed to them by instinct and a silent hand that guides their actions, while just as many look to the words of their holy men for guidance in interpreting its will.



Regardless of the beliefs of the inhabitants of Pell, none can argue the primal strength and power of the Giants, woe be unto those who would incur their wrath.
